Hewlett-Packard has a lot of products and technology, like the IP Qualcomm just purchased, that current management believes will not have any real place in the company’s future. From Qualcomm's perspective, buying tech from HP with deep roots in earlier forms of mobile computing may inoculate the company against future legal challenges.
